Lucius Vassar began their work experience in 1990 as Chief of Staff for Senator Virgil C. Smith. From 1998 to 2002, they worked as a Lobbyist at Muchmore Harrington Smalley & Associates, providing strategic counsel to corporations and associations. In 2002, they joined the City of Detroit, serving as Director of Corporate and Civic Affairs, where they developed strategic partnerships and managed the Mayor's Office of Targeted Business Development. Lucius later became Chief Administrative Officer and Director of the Detroit Workforce Development Department. In 2009, Vassar joined Clark Hill PLC as an Attorney and Director of Governmental Relations, specializing in governmental relations and procurement. Currently, they hold multiple roles at Cinnaire, including Corporate Counsel and Executive Vice President for Equitable Engagement, overseeing legal affairs and stakeholder relationships, and Senior Vice President - Detroit Market Leader, advancing community development in Detroit.

Lucius Vassar completed their education starting from high school. Lucius obtained their High School Diploma from Niles High in 1987. Following this, they pursued their Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Michigan State University, which they successfully completed in 1996. Lucius then continued their studies at Michigan State University College of Law, where they earned their JD Cum Laude degree in Law in 2001.
