Philippe Karpe serves as a Senior Researcher and International Expert at CIRAD since September 2001, with a focus on land tenure, environmental law, and the rights of indigenous and rural communities. From 2011 to 2016, Philippe operated as a legal researcher in Central Africa, addressing indigenous peoples' rights, forest law, and participatory legal methodologies. Prior to that, Philippe engaged in legal research in Madagascar, analyzing environmental law and local resource management. In addition, Philippe has held academic roles, including Lecturer at Hokkaido University and Université de Strasbourg, specializing in human rights and indigenous peoples' rights.
