Richard Hollis has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Richard currently holds the position of Principal Data Scientist at Circana since April 2019. Previously, they worked at The NPD Group as the Executive Director of Operations (Data Science) from November 2015 to April 2019. During this role, they led a data science team in implementing an automated data analytics system and introduced agile methodology for decision-making.
Richard's earlier experience includes working as an Assistant Project Scientist at the University of California, Riverside from September 2008 to November 2015. During this time, they led a team in fast-track data analysis and public release of results for the PHENIX experiment at Brookhaven National Laboratory.
Prior to that, they were a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Illinois at Chicago from May 2005 to September 2008. In this role, they contributed to the discovery of the Higgs Boson by designing and simulating the minimum bias trigger for the CMS experiment at the LHC. Richard also pioneered innovative data analysis techniques for the STAR experiment at RHIC.
Richard also has experience as a Research/Teaching Assistant at the University of Illinois at Chicago from August 1999 to May 2005. During this time, they taught undergraduate labs and conducted research on the PHOBOS experiment at RHIC, where they developed a new method for separating nuclear collisions.
Richard Hollis obtained a Ph.D. in Nuclear Physics from the University of Illinois Chicago, where they studied from 1999 to 2005. Prior to that, they completed a Bachelor's degree in Theoretical Physics, earning a Master of Physics from The University of Sheffield, during the period of 1995 to 1999.
