Michael W. Mathes, Sr. has 42 years of work experience, primarily in the environmental and operations management fields. Michael W. started their career in 1976 as a Licensed Heavy Machine Operator in Crossville, TN. In 1983, they became a Leadman at Crossville Ceramic and Tile, where they worked for a year. In 1997, they joined Chemtron Corporation as the Plant 2 Operational Manager, responsible for managing all aspects of the plant's multiple departmental operations. In 1998, they moved to CIRCON Environmental as the Plant #2 Operations Supervisor. Throughout their career, Michael has gained experience in materials management, scheduling, equipment operations, safety protocols, and personnel management.

Michael W. Mathes, Sr. attended Stanford University from 2022 to 2023, where they studied Business Statistics. Prior to that, from 1983 to 1986, they attended Cumberland County High School and North Ridgeville High School, where they obtained a degree in Mechanical Drafting/Engineering, with a focus on small engine designs and agriculture FHA. Michael W. also studied agriculture, agriculture operations, and related sciences during their time at CCHS/NRHS from 1981 to 1986.
