Alex Joves is the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) Regional Director for Region 5 covering Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and Wisconsin. Regional directors serve as the CISA senior leader in each of the ten regions. Through their leadership and management of field-based resources and capabilities, regional directors represent all CISA programs.
CISA protects the Nation’s critical infrastructure from cyber and physical threats by working with partners to defend against today’s threats and collaborating to build more secure and resilient infrastructure for the future.
Mr. Joves was selected as Regional Director in 2016. He brings 25 years of government service to the position, working in the federal Civil Service and U.S. Coast Guard, including tours in the White House Situation Room, White House Military Office, U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary’s Office, and seagoing, law enforcement assignments in both the Atlantic and Pacific areas. He held leadership positions across DHS with the Principal Federal Official Program, Special Events Working Group, Office of Operations Coordination, Incident Specific Preparedness Review for the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill, Counterterrorism Advisory Board, National Terrorism Advisory System, National Infrastructure Coordinating Center, Chemical Facility Anti-Terrorism Standards, Office of Infrastructure Protection, Transportation Security Administration, and U.S. Secret Service.
A career member of the Senior Executive Service, Mr. Joves is a graduate of the U.S. Coast Guard Academy and The George Washington University Law School. Prior to his federal career, he was an attorney in private sector practice. He currently serves on the FBI Chicago Field Office Joint Terrorism Task Force Executive Board and Chicago Federal Executive Board Executive Committee.
