Karyn Swoopes

Karyn Swoopes serves as the External Affairs Lead at the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) since June 2023, where efforts have resulted in a 25% increase in message clarity and impact, solidifying CISA's role as a cybersecurity thought leader in the Southeast. Prior experience includes roles as a Communications and Stakeholder Engagement Advisor at CISA, Public Affairs Communications Advisor, and Senior Manager in Public Affairs at FEMA, where significant communication strategies were developed to enhance public awareness of climate resilience and navigate critical disaster messaging. Karyn also founded Swoopes Media Consulting, Inc., providing strategic communication and crisis management services since 2001. Other roles include Communications and Marketing Manager at MSLGROUP and Business Development Manager at LDI Color ToolBox. Karyn holds a BA in Spanish from the University of Virginia.
