Dr Masao Däumer has extensive work experience in various roles and organizations. Dr Masao is currently working as a Research Analyst at Cision since November 2021. Prior to this, they were a Doctoral Student at Sciences Po Paris from 2011 to September 2021, where they submitted their dissertation titled "The Political and Diplomatic Tensions in Japan's Trade with French Indochina (Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam), 1905 to 1932" under the advisory of Professor Paul-André Rosental. Dr Masao also worked as a Freelance Translator from Japanese to German and contributed to a scientific article translation. Dr Däumer served as a German Language Teacher at GEM Foreign Language School from November 2008 to July 2009. Dr Masao also worked as a Research Intern at the Georg-Eckert-Institute, where they analyzed perceptions of Europe in Japanese history textbooks and compared commemoration sites and cultures in German and French history textbooks. Additionally, they gained experience as a Summer Intern at the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the German National Parliament, focusing on research and report writing on various topics including international negotiations and patent infringement cases.
Dr. Masao Däumer received a Bachelor's degree in Interdisciplinary Studies in Economics and Social Sciences from Sciences Po in 2009. Dr Masao then pursued a Master's degree in History from Sciences Po, specializing in the Department of History, from 2009 to 2011. Following this, from 2012 to 2013, they were a Visiting Doctoral Student at Columbia University, focusing on History in the Department of History. In 2013, they continued their doctoral studies as a Visiting Doctoral Student at The University of Tokyo, specifically in the Department of Economics, specializing in Economic History. In 2014, Dr. Däumer pursued further research in Social and Economic History as a Visiting Doctoral Student at Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, completing their studies in the Department of History. Lastly, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in History from Sciences Po in 2021.
