Kai Staats

Kai Staats is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in research, project management, and consultancy within the fields of space exploration and technology. Currently serving as the Director of Research for SAM at the University of Arizona's Biosphere 2, Staats leads the development of a habitat analog for lunar and Martian exploration. As Principal Manager of Over the Sun, LLC, focus is given to research, science outreach, and documentary filmmaking. Previous roles include Program Manager at Paragon Space Development Corporation, Visiting Scientist at LIGO, and Project Lead at ASU's Interplanetary Initiative. Staats founded Terra Soft Solutions, enhancing the prominence of the Yellow Dog Linux operating system, and has a background in marketing and web development through Terra Firma Design. Educational credentials include a Master's degree in Machine Learning from the University of Cape Town and participation in the Space Studies Program at the International Space University.
