In their most recent role at CITIC Pacific Mining, they served as the General Manager - Digital Technology & Innovation, where they oversaw project delivery and transformation initiatives. Mark was responsible for managing a large team and achieving a high delivery success rate. Mark also has experience as a non-executive director and vice chair at Global Mining Guidelines Group. Additionally, they have worked as a project and change management consultant, managing director, and chief operating officer in various organizations. Mark has a strong background in technology, operational management, and project delivery.
Mark O'Brien is currently a candidate for a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Philosophy (AI, Ethics, and Philosophy of Technology - Feasibility of Artificial Moral Agents) at the University of New England (AU). Prior to this, they completed a postgraduate degree in Philosophy & Ethics at The University of Notre Dame Australia. Mark also pursued a Master of Science in Computer Science (partial) at Georgia Institute of Technology, with their focus being on Artificial Intelligence and Interactive Intelligence. Additionally, they have completed partial coursework for a Master of Data Analytics degree at Deakin University, specializing in Data Science. Mark O'Brien's educational background also includes a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Mathematics & Computer Science from Curtin University.
