Nathan Sheets

Global Chief Economist at Citigroup

Nathan Sheets is the current Global Chief Economist at Citigroup. Prior to this, they served as the Global Head of International Economics from January 2011 to December 2014. In this role, Nathan was responsible for interpreting global economic and financial developments for Citigroup’s major clients throughout the world. Nathan has also published regular research reports on thematic issues, such as U.S. household saving and deleveraging, the high correlation in long-term interest rates across countries, lessons from Japan, and the implications of shifting global demographics.

From January 2007 to December 2011, Nathan served as the Director and FOMC Economist at the Federal Reserve Board’s Division of International Finance. In this role, they were responsible for providing analysis on international economic developments and their implications for U.S. monetary policy.

Nathan Sheets received their Ph.D. in Economics from Stanford University in 1996.

Nathan Sheets received their PhD in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and their Bachelor's degree Summa Cum Laude in Economics from Brigham Young University.
