Citizens Electric Corporation is a not-for-profit corporation operating as an electric cooperative. CEC is based in Perryville, Missouri and serves over 27,000 members in Ste. Genevieve, Perry, St. Francois, Jefferson, and Bollinger counties. We are owned by the members we serve. The company is one of 40 electric distribution cooperatives in the state and the largest by kilowatt-hour sales and revenue in Missouri. Citizens Electric Corporation was formed in 1947 after Genevieve Electric Cooperative acquired all of the property of Missouri General Utilities Company which was providing power to Perry, Ste. Genevieve, and Northern Cape Girardeau Counties. The company is a member of the Association of Missouri Electric Cooperatives and one of 23 member-owners of Wabash Valley Power Alliance. CEC is also a Touchstone electric cooperative and a member of the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
