Kavel Smith is an experienced finance professional currently serving as the Assistant Director of Finance at City Academy since March 2022. Prior to this role, Kavel worked at North Side Community School from August 2015 to July 2022 in various positions, including Consultant and Accounting Assistant/Business Coordinator. Additionally, Kavel held the position of Office Manager at IV Access Inc from September 2016 to March 2022. Kavel earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from McKendree University in 2015, following a Bachelor's degree from the same institution in 2014.

City Academy is the only private, independent elementary school in St. Louis that provides scholarship support to 100% of our students. Located in north St. Louis, we serve 202 students age four through sixth grade. We believe that all families deserve access to affordable, high-quality education. Our 199 alumni are transforming St. Louis. As leaders in our community, alumni participate in student government and civic clubs at their secondary schools, and volunteer as mentors and tutors at City Academy. Nearly one-hundred percent of college-age alumni matriculate into college.
