Hilary Near

Hilary Near possesses extensive experience in waste management and environmental education, currently serving as the Commercial Zero Waste Senior Coordinator for the City and County of San Francisco since October 2018. Previous roles include the Commercial Zero Waste Coordinator and Assistant at the same organization, as well as positions at the City of Oakland as a Recycling Specialist and Recycling Program Analyst. Hilary previously worked at Cascadia Consulting Group as an Associate, focusing on resource conservation and waste reduction programs. An earlier role at Stopwaste.org involved environmental education for school students. Hilary also has international teaching experience as an English Professor in Ecuador and holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration from San Francisco State University, along with various certifications in leadership and recycling practices.
