Rich Sucre is an accomplished professional in the field of historic preservation and architecture, currently serving as Deputy Director for the City and County of San Francisco since December 2010. In this role, Rich manages a team of over 23 planners and staff, leads the Historic Preservation Commission, and oversees the Planning Information Counter in the Permit Center. Previously, Rich held the position of Principal Planner, leading the Southeast Quadrant and Historic Preservation teams. Rich began the career as a Historic Preservation Technical Specialist/Planner III, focusing on building permit reviews in accordance with preservation codes. Prior experience includes working as a Senior Architectural Historian/Associate at Page & Turnbull and as an Intern Architect at Bostwick Design Partnership. Rich holds a Master of Architectural History from the University of Virginia and dual Bachelor degrees in Architecture and Art History from the University of Michigan.
