Mark Murrmann

Mark Murrmann is a seasoned professional in photography and education, currently serving as a part-time instructor at the City College of San Francisco since August 2023. As the Photo Director at Mother Jones since October 2007, Mark oversees photography operations, commissioning assignments and researching photo essays. A contract photographer for ZUMA Press since 2005, Mark has documented significant events such as the Orange Revolution and Hurricane Katrina. Freelance work includes notable publications and selected exhibitions, showcasing a diverse array of projects and zines. Mark held part-time faculty roles at the Academy of Art University and has been involved with SF Camerawork as a board member. Previous experience spans various positions, including coordinator at Maximum Rocknroll and music editor at Listen.com.
