Chris Rome

Chris Rome, PE, PTOE, RSP1 has extensive work experience in the field of transportation engineering. Chris has worked in various roles and positions, starting from their early career as a Civil Engineering Intern at Professional Engineering Consultants Corporation. Chris then joined the Louisiana Department Of Transportation and Development as an Engineer Intern, where they gained experience in capacity evaluation, foundation design, and field inspections.

After that, Chris worked at the Georgia Institute of Technology as a Graduate Research Assistant, focusing on researching emissions and cost savings related to an idle reduction program and assisting with data collection for a transportation project.

Chris then joined Foresite Group as a Transportation Analyst, where they continued to develop their skills in transportation planning and analysis.

Chris then joined WSP USA, where they held several positions, including Transportation Engineer I and II, Senior Transportation Engineer, Lead Transportation Engineer, and Senior Lead Consultant - Transportation Engineer. In these roles, they managed staff, projects, and pursuits for various transportation projects, with a particular focus on traffic signal design, active transportation, complete streets, and pedestrian safety.

Most recently, Chris has been working at the City of Atlanta as a Senior Multimodal Transportation Engineer and Senior Director, Multimodal Transportation Engineering. In these roles, they are responsible for managing and directing engineering and urban street design projects, as well as supporting various functions of the department, such as traffic engineering, program management, planning, and policy.

Chris Rome, PE, PTOE, RSP1 completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering at Louisiana State University from 2006 to 2010. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering, specializing in Transportation Systems Engineering, at the Georgia Institute of Technology from 2010 to 2011. In terms of additional certifications, they obtained the Engineer Intern (EI) certification from the Louisiana Professional Engineering and Land Surveying Board (LAPELS) in September 2010. In December 2014, they became a Professional Engineer (PE) certified by the Georgia Board of Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Chris also holds a PE certification from the Florida Board of Professional Engineers since February 2017. Furthermore, they successfully obtained the Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) certification from the Transportation Professional Certification Board Inc. in 2017. Lastly, they attained the Road Safety Professional Level 1 (RSP1) certification from the Transportation Professional Certification Board in 2022.
