Rena Church

Director Curator Aurora Public Art Commission at City of Aurora

Rena Church has extensive work experience as the Director/Curator for the City of Aurora. Rena has been with the City of Aurora since 1996 and is currently serving as the Founding Director/Curator for the Aurora Public Art Commission (APAC) and the Grand Army of the Republic, Post 20 Museum (GAR). In their role, Rena is responsible for various tasks including budget planning, curating and scheduling exhibits, managing public sculpture, overseeing educational programs, grant writing, and directing operations of the museums. Rena is also involved in the restoration of the GAR Museum, which is scheduled to reopen in 2011. Rena's tenure with the City of Aurora and their dedication to the arts make their a valuable asset to the organization.

Rena Church pursued their education from 1976 to 1983. In 1979-1980, they enrolled at the University of Illinois Urbana, where they pursued a minor in Spanish. Later, from 1980 to 1983, they attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where they focused on studying painting and animation. Rena Church earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree upon completing their education.
