Chief Privacy Officer at City of Austin

Elaine N. began their work experience as an Assistant City Attorney for the City Government in 2005. Elaine then moved on to work as an Assistant Attorney General for the Texas Attorney General from 2008 to 2011. Following that, they joined a private law firm called Advocate & Consultancies, where they worked in private practice from 2006 to 2007. In 2011, they returned to the City of Austin as an Assistant City Attorney, where they served as legal counsel to various departments until September 2019. At that point, they transitioned into the role of Chief Privacy Officer for the City of Austin, where they provided leadership and guidance on information privacy.

Elaine N. holds a Juris Doctorate degree from Ohio Northern University—Claude W. Pettit College of Law. Elaine has additional certifications including Certified HIPPA Professional from ecfirst, Attorney from the State Bar of Texas, and various certifications in information privacy from the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP). Elaine is also a member of the Texas Bar College and has been admitted to the Northern District Of Texas Court.
