Demi Engman is an experienced professional in urban planning and community development, currently serving as the Director of Planning and Community Development for the City of Beaumont since January 2021. Prior roles include Planning Manager and Senior Planner at the same organization, and a Senior Planner for the City of Dayton, Texas. Engman began a career in public administration at Lamar University, where a Master of Public Administration was obtained while also contributing as an Assistant Softball Coach and Graduate Assistant Softball Coach. Prior to this, Engman gained experience as an Assistant to the Director of Learning Enhancement at Binghamton University and held volunteer coaching positions, showcasing a strong background in leadership, organization, and coordination within academic and athletic environments. Educational qualifications include a Master's degree from Lamar University and a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Planning from Binghamton University.

The City of Beaumont is located in Southeast Texas, approximately 85 miles east of Houston. The city's population is 118,000. Beaumont is a full-service municipality, and serves as the county seat for Jefferson County. Beaumont operates under a council-manager system of government, in which the elected, part-time council appoints a city manager, who acts as the chief executive officer for city affairs. The City Council meets every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Council Chambers, located on the 1st floor of City Hall, 801 Main Street. Council member offices are located on the 3rd floor of City Hall in Suite 300. Meetings are televised on Time Warner Cable Channel 4 Wednesday through Sunday at 9 a.m. and 7 p.m.
