Forrest Longman has a diverse work experience in various government and private sectors. Forrest started their career as a General Manager at Fairhaven Boatworks from 2002 to 2007. Forrest then became the Owner of Fairhaven Marine Services from 2007 to 2011. From 2011 to 2012, they worked as a Research, Planning, and Evaluation Graduate Intern at the Municipal Court of the City of Seattle. In 2012, they served as a Graduate Intern in the Assessor's Office of King County. Forrest Longman then worked as a Fiscal & Policy Analyst for the City of Seattle from 2012 to 2015, where they were responsible for budget development, legislative review, and policy analysis. Forrest also worked as a Legislative Analyst for Whatcom County Government from 2015 to 2017, where they provided fiscal, budget, and policy analysis for the County Council. Currently, Forrest Longman is employed by the City of Bellingham since 2017, where they have held the positions of Finance & Budget Officer and Deputy Finance Director. In these roles, they have been responsible for budget development, revenue forecasting, and managing a revenue team.

Forrest Longman earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science & History from Western Washington University, attending from 2000 to 2005. Later, they pursued a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree in Municipal Finance and Policy Analysis from the University of Washington, studying from 2010 to 2012.
