Monique Sims has extensive work experience in the public health and nutrition field. Monique is currently working as the Health Nutrition Program Coordinator and WIC Director at the City of Berkeley since August 2021. Prior to this, they served as the Chief Executive Officer at A More Excellent Way Health Organization, where they focused on promoting wellness and reducing health disparities in diverse communities. Monique'srole included individual and group nutrition counseling, childbirth preparation, and media advocacy. From 2012 to 2021, Monique worked as a Public Health Program Manager at CONTRA COSTA COUNTY HEALTH SERVICES DEPARTMENT. During their time there, they were responsible for program management and development. Monique has also served as a Site Manager at La Clinica North Vallejo and as a Supervising Public Health Nutritionist at Solano County Health and Social Services. In these roles, they supervised multiple employees, developed and implemented programs and policies, and managed WIC clinic sites.

Monique Sims holds a DrPH degree in Public Health Management from the University of California, Berkeley, which they obtained between the years 2003 and 2007. Prior to their doctoral studies, they earned an MPH degree in Public Health Nutrition from the same university, studying from 1999 to 2001.
