Christina Akrong

Christina Akrong is a seasoned professional in the arts and education sectors, currently serving as the Education and Outreach Coordinator for Cultural Programming at the City of Brampton since November 2019, while also acting as Events Lead and Administrative Coordinator at the African Arts Institute since June 2023. Christina has held significant roles such as Program Officer at the Canada Council for the Arts and the Ontario Arts Council, where responsibilities included grant administration and support for various arts programs. Additional experience includes serving as a juror at the Textile Museum of Canada and co-designing an online course for Algoma University. Previous leadership roles include Executive Director at TheatrePeace Inc., where partnerships and educational programming were developed, and co-founding the Winters Community Arts Club to provide arts programming to underserved youths. Christina holds multiple degrees from York University, including a Master of Education and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre, and has ongoing training in Creative Facilitation through Partners for Youth Empowerment.
