Ernesto M. Gutierrez

Council Member at City of Cathedral City

Ernesto Gutierrez was elected by the voters to the serve on the City Council in November 2018. He is a well-known community leader with an extensive and diverse business background.

Ernesto was born in Mexico and immigrated to the United States at fourteen. He has called the desert his home for nearly forty years. Ernesto was educated locally and earned his degree from College of the Desert. He has attended numerous regional education and certification forums.

Ernesto is a community activist and a successful businessman. He is employed as a real estate broker, with over 30 years of experience as a builder and real estate investor by trade. He obtained his mortgage broker's license and additionally has owned and operated Tortilla’s Restaurant, located in Cathedral, City since 1996.

From owning and operating his businesses, Ernesto has gained invaluable knowledge, experience, and a great understanding of budgeting, sales, marketing, economy and financing. Along with owning your businesses comes the need to work hard. His experience, knowledge, and hard work is what will help all residents of Cathedral City.

Ernesto has a particular interest and main focus in public safety, improving/repairing local infrastructure, enforcing the municipal code and beautifying neighborhoods. He places emphasis on local city issues while strongly advocating for residents and their best interests. His work also focuses on the homeless community by finding better solutions and bringing back businesses that have left the community. He welcomes progress, innovation and growth but only after good faith consideration of all points of view.

Councilmember Ernesto Gutierrez is dedicated and highly committed to uplifting neighborhoods and residents throughout his community. He is very passionate about his work and serving his community as a public servant.
