Matthew Sutton

Matthew Sutton currently serves as the Chief of Staff for the City of Charleston, WV, since January 2019. Prior to this role, Matthew held the title of Associate Vice President at Fahlgren Mortine from November 2013 to January 2019, where integrated marketing and communications projects were managed for various industries across West Virginia. Matthew’s experience includes serving as Vice President at Charles Ryan Associates, handling crisis management and simplifying complex messages, and working as Vice President and Manager of Research at Rainmaker Media Group focusing on political campaigns and research. Initial experience included a role as a Legislative Assistant for the West Virginia House of Delegates. Matthew Sutton obtained a Master’s degree in Communication Studies and a Master’s in Political Science from West Virginia University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science/History from West Virginia Wesleyan College.
