Kathleen O'Donovan has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations. Kathleen began their career in 2011 as an AmeriCorps Fellow at the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights. In 2012, they joined Hispanic American Community Education and Services (HACES) as the DACA Program Manager. Kathleen then moved on to the National Immigrant Justice Center in 2013, where they served as an Immigrant Services Representative before becoming the National Litigation Project Coordinator from 2015 to 2017. In 2017, they joined Upparent as a Content Manager and later took on the role of Consulting Content Manager. Currently, Kathleen is employed at the City of Chicago Office of Inspector General, initially starting as a Performance Analyst and now serving as the Chief Performance Analyst since July 2021.

Kathleen O'Donovan has a diverse education history. Kathleen pursued their undergraduate studies at Kalamazoo College from 2007 to 2011, majoring in Anthropology/Sociology and Spanish. During the academic year of 2009-2010, Kathleen also attended Universidad San Francisco de Quito, although the specific field of study or degree obtained is unknown.

Subsequently, they furthered their education at Northwestern University, where they obtained a Master's of Public Policy and Public Administration from 2015 to 2017. The field of study for this degree is not specified.

Additionally, Kathleen O'Donovan has acquired additional certifications. In 2015, they became an Accredited Representative from the Board of Immigration Appeals. Kathleen also obtained a certification as a Certified Inspector General Auditor from the Association of Inspectors General in March 2020.
