Zhen Heinemann

Zhen Heinemann has extensive experience in public engagement and program curation within cultural and recreational settings. Currently serving as the Director of Visitor Experience & Public Engagement for the City of Chicago's Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events since December 2017, Zhen oversees various initiatives including audience relationship building, education programs, and volunteer management. Prior roles include curating the Summer on the Hudson festival, where Zhen managed over 280 public programming events, and directing public programs at NYC Department of Parks & Recreation, focusing on community building and event logistics. Zhen's background also includes sports photography with notable publications, stage management, and a strong educational foundation in performance studies and playwriting from prestigious institutions such as New York University and the University of Southern California.
