Robert Meyers has over 20 years of experience in building code enforcement and administration. Robert served as Chief Building Official for the City of Covington and implemented local building codes tailored to the city's needs. Robert also made presentations to the City Council on budgeting and sustainability. Meyers held the same position for the City of Maple Valley from 2015 to 2018. Robert was a Building Official for the City of Black Diamond from 2010 to 2016 and an Assistant Building Official for the City of Des Moines from 1997 to 2006. Previously, they worked as a Plans Examiner for Island County and a Building Inspector for the City of Oak Harbor.

Robert Meyers attended Mira Costa Community College from 1987 to 1990, although they did not complete a degree or specify a field of study during this time. In 1998, they obtained a certification as a CABO Certified Building Official, with a focus on Building Codes, Legal Aspect of Code Administration, and Budget and Financial Administration. In 2000 to 2001, they received another certification as an ICC Certified Building Code Official, with a similar focus on Building Codes, Legal Aspect of Code Administration, and Budget and Financial Administration. In 2012, they acquired the certification of ICC Certified Fire Marshal, but did not pursue any specific degree or field of study during this period. In 2013, they furthered their certification by becoming an ICC Certified Commercial Electrical Inspector, specializing in the National Electrical Code. In the same year, they also became an ICC Certified Master Code Professional, expanding their proficiency in various codes, including Building Code, Fire Code, Electrical Code, Accessibility Code, and Energy Code. Lastly, in 2018, they completed a program offered by the International Code Council to become a Fire Code Specialist, focusing on the International Fire Code.
