Maria Buffone is an experienced accountant currently employed at the Ann Arbor Employees’ Retirement System since August 2019 and simultaneously serving as an Accountant II for the City of Dearborn since May 2014. Responsibilities include preparing, analyzing, and interpreting accounting records and financial reports, along with performing monthly reconciliations. Prior to these roles, Maria held various positions in the jewelry industry, including Customer Service Manager/Gemologist at Orin Jewelers, where negotiation and training were key tasks, and Assistant Buyer/Sales & Office Assistant at Leo Hamel & Co. Maria began their career as a Human Resources Assistant and Weekend Receptionist at Henry Ford Village Retirement Community. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from the University of Michigan - Dearborn and multiple certifications in gemology.
