Caroline Swope

Caroline Swope is a seasoned professional in the field of historic preservation, currently serving as the Historic Preservation Specialist for the City of Decatur, Alabama since 2019. As the Principal of Kingstree Studios since 2007, Caroline has led Cultural Resource Management projects, focusing on historic research, historic register applications, special tax valuations, and historic design. With a solid educational background, including a Ph.D. in Art & Architectural History from the University of Washington and a Master's in Historic Preservation and Conservation from Ball State University, Caroline has also contributed to academia as an adjunct faculty member at multiple institutions, including the University of Washington Tacoma and Pacific Lutheran University. Prior experience as a historian at Historical Research Associates, Inc. adds to a robust portfolio in the preservation of cultural heritage.
