Larissa McCoy

Larissa McCoy has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Larissa began their career in 2008 as a High School Science Teacher at Temple Christian School. From 2010 to 2011, Larissa served as a Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene Intern at Samaritan's Purse. Larissa then moved on to NorthCraft Builders, where they worked as an Office Manager for a brief period in 2011. Larissa joined the City of DeLand in 2012 and held the roles of Environmental Lab Tech I and Environmental Lab Tech II until 2017. During this time, they gained experience in laboratory operations, quality control, and Standard Operating Procedures. Larissa took a break from their career to be a Stay-at-Home Mom from 2017 to 2021. In 2021, they became a Lab Manager at Veolia Water Technologies - North America. Larissa then worked as an Academic Tutor at Huntington Learning Center and as a Promotional Representative at Florida Pure Water Solutions in 2022. Currently, Larissa holds the position of Chief Environmental Chemist I at the City of DeLand starting in 2023.

Larissa McCoy obtained a Master's Degree in Environmental Science from Taylor University, graduating in 2011. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology, with a minor in Bible, from Cedarville University between 2006 and 2008. In 2005, Larissa briefly attended Pennsylvania State University-Penn State Fayette- Eberly Campus and West Virginia University, focusing on Biology. Larissa completed their high school education at Southmoreland Senior High School from 2000 to 2004.

In terms of additional certifications, Larissa obtained the "First Aid CPR AED" certification from the American Heart Association in March 2022. Larissa also earned the "Fats, Oils, and Grease (FOG) I Management" certification from the Florida Industrial Pretreatment Association in May 2016.
