Farhan Butt

Farhan Butt, Ph.D., P.E., serves as the Deputy Director of the Transportation Services Division for the City of Denton since August 2023. Prior to this role, Farhan held the position of Principal Transportation Planner at Lee County from January 2022 to August 2023 and was the Saudi Aramco Chair Professor and Director of Smart Mobility and Traffic Safety Research at Saudi Aramco Chair for Traffic Safety Research from February 2014 to January 2022. Farhan's earlier experience includes roles as a Senior Engineer, Transportation Engineer, and Engineer II at Wasatch Front Regional Council between May 2002 and October 2014, and as a Transportation Engineer intern at Samsung USA from July 2001 to April 2002. Academically, Farhan holds a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from the University of Utah, an MS from Brigham Young University, and a BS from the University of Engineering and Technology in Lahore, along with pre-engineering studies at Government College University in Lahore.
