Chris Schmidt

Chris Schmidt is an experienced IT professional currently serving as the Public Safety Team Coordinator for the City of Des Moines since March 2023, focusing on program administration, development, and project management within public safety technology. Prior to this role, Chris was the Technology Services Team Lead for the Iowa Department of Public Safety from October 2009 to March 2023, overseeing operations of the Help Desk and coordinating with various governmental entities. Chris began a career in the State of Iowa Department of Public Safety as a Criminalist from October 1999 to October 2009, where responsibilities included evidence management and analysis. Chris holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from Iowa State University, graduated in 1996.
