Amar Rushing

Amar Rushing, CPA, has extensive experience in accounting and finance, currently serving as the Accounting Manager for the City of Detroit since March 2019. In this role, Amar focuses on general ledger and fixed assets accounting within the Office of the Controller/Chief Financial Officer, where responsibilities include developing and maintaining financial policies and procedures. Prior experience includes serving as a Senior Financial Analyst at General Motors, overseeing the preparation and review of financial statements for pension plans, and working as an Audit Associate at Plante Moran. In addition, Amar held leadership as President of Beta Alpha Psi at the University of Michigan-Flint and gained early career experience in roles at Huntington National Bank and JP Morgan Chase. Amar holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Finance from the University of Michigan-Flint.
