Donovan Smith, AICP, NCI, currently serves as a Principal Planner at McKenna since December 2023. In addition, Donovan holds the position of Chairperson of the City Planning Commission for the City of Detroit from October 2020. Previous experience includes serving as City Planner for the City of Pontiac from August 2017 to November 2022, and roles with AmeriCorps VISTA from June 2016 to June 2018 as Assistant Project Manager and Local Action Planner. Further experience includes a position as Planning Aide at Huron-Clinton Metroparks and an internship at Wade Trim. Donovan's professional background is complemented by a Bachelor's degree in City/Urban, Community and Regional Planning from Eastern Michigan University, earned between 2012 and 2016.
