Gary A. Brown

Gary A. Brown serves as the Detroit City Council President Pro Tem since January 2010 and is the owner of Brown & Associates, a consultancy providing professional case services for law enforcement and private security litigation, established in January 2008. Brown also ran for Detroit City Council in 2009, leveraging nearly three decades of leadership experience in the city to advocate against corruption. Prior to these roles, Brown was Deputy Police Chief at the Detroit Police Department from 1977 to 2003. Education includes a Master's degree in Liberal Arts from Eastern Michigan University, a Bachelor's of Science in Criminal Justice from Wayne State University, and a certificate from the School of Staff and Command at Northwestern University.
