Mary Sheffield

City Council Member at City of Detroit

Mary Sheffield has been a City Council Member in the City of Detroit since December 2013. Prior to that, they worked as a Program Specialist for the Wayne County Sheriff's office from August 2011 to December 2013. In this role, they were responsible for identifying and implementing jail initiatives, programs and services for inmates, as well as serving as a liaison to inmate in-house programs and alternatives to incarceration programs. Mary also worked as a Financial Aid Advisor/ International Program Coordinator for WCCCD from June 2008 to January 2010. In this role, they were responsible for providing advising and guidance to students regarding their financial aid options, as well as coordinating international programs and initiatives.

Mary Sheffield attended Wayne State University, where they completed a Bachelor of Public Affairs. Mary then attended Central Michigan University to earn their Master’s Degree in MSA.
