Brian Chau is an Assistant Civil Engineer at the City of Duarte since April 2023, focusing on preparing specifications, plans, and cost estimates for various engineering projects. Watches. Brian holds a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from UCLA and an Associate of Arts in Civil Engineering from Pasadena City College.

Duarte, an ethnically diverse community, was also recognized in 2014 by the National League of Cities with a first place City Cultural Diversity Award. Brief History In 1841, the Governor of Alta California granted former Mexican Corporal Andres Duarte and his wife were granted 7,000 acres of land and named it Rancho Azusa de Duarte. The Gabrielino Indians once inhabited the land that is now known as the City of Duarte. Decades later, on August 22, 1957 the City of Duarte and the Duarte Unified School District were formed.
