Evon Sommerville is an experienced professional with a diverse background in public service and education. Currently serving as a Firefighter with the City of East Orange since November 2017, Evon responds to emergencies involving fire, hazardous conditions, and medical incidents. Concurrently, as a Substitute Teacher with Delta-T Group, lesson plans are created based on New Jersey Core Curriculum Content Standards, while student comprehension is assessed through various methods. Previous roles include Specialist at Apple, Bartender at Hyatt House, Associate Teacher at Success Academy Charter Schools, and Substitute Teacher with ESS. Early career experience includes serving as a One-to-One Aide at Saddle Brook High School and a Sales Associate at Toys"R"Us. Evon holds a Bachelor's degree in History from New Jersey City University, completed in 2017, and a high school diploma from Marist High School.

Welcome to the City of East Orange. Originally founded as a township in 1863, East Orange became incorporated as a city on January 1, 1909. By the close of the 19th century, East Orange was an agriculturally rich area populated by oil tycoons and Newark industrialists.
