Fire Chief Of The Evanston Fire Department at City of Evanston

Paul Polep has a diverse work experience spanning several industries. Paul began their career as a Well Driller at Jos. H. Huemann well drilling in 1987 before moving on to work as a Linemen at ComEd from 1988 to 1995. In 1991, they joined the McHenry Township Fire Protection District as a Firefighter, a role they held until 2015. Following this, they worked at the City of Evanston, where they held various positions such as Firefighter, Captain, Division Chief, Deputy Chief, and currently serves as the Fire Chief of the Evanston Fire Department since April 2021.

Paul Polep attended Johnsburg High School from 1983 to 1987, though there is no mention of him obtaining a degree or studying a specific field during this time. After high school, they pursued higher education at McHenry County College, where they completed an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Fire Science/Firefighting. Additionally, Paul Polep obtained the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) certification from the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal (OSFM). This certification was acquired in April 2021. Furthermore, they completed the Mgt 314 Incident Command course from Texas A&M University in November 2018.
