Division Chief / Fire Marshal at City of Fairburn

Chris Campbell, CFPS, IAAI-CFI has a diverse work experience in the fire and emergency services field. Chris currently holds the position of Division Chief / Fire Marshal at the City of Fairburn since 2023. Prior to that, they served as Division Chief / Fire Marshal at the City of Sandy Springs from 2021 to 2023. Chris also held the role of Fire Inspector - Investigator - Community Affairs Assistant (part-time) at the same company from 2014 to 2021.

Before joining the City of Sandy Springs, Chris spent a significant portion of their career at the Peachtree City Fire Department. Chris served as Battalion Chief / Paramedic from 2013 to 2021, overseeing a team of firefighters and ensuring effective emergency response. Chris also held the position of Assistant Fire Marshal from 2012 to 2013, focusing on fire and life safety code compliance, inspections, fire investigations, and public education. Prior to that, they served as Lieutenant/Paramedic from 1993 to 2012, where they were the Assistant Shift Commander of the Peachtree City Fire Department C shift.

In addition to their roles in the fire department, Chris also worked as an Adjunct Fire Instructor at Southern Crescent Technical College from 2011 to 2017, where they developed and instructed various emergency training programs. Chris also worked as an Independent Insurance Inspector at JMI Reports from 2012 to 2013, conducting residential and commercial inspection surveys for the insurance industry nationwide.

Prior to their time at Peachtree City Fire Department, Chris served as Battalion Chief/Paramedic at the City of Fairburn, Ga from 2006 to 2010, where they were the Shift Commander of B shift.

Overall, Chris Campbell has demonstrated a strong commitment to fire and life safety, emergency response, and education throughout their career in various leadership positions.

Chris Campbell, CFPS, IAAI-CFI has a diverse education history that includes a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Occupational Safety & Health from Columbia Southern University, obtained between 2005 and 2008. Before that, they completed an Associate of Science (AS) degree in Fire Science at Georgia State University Perimeter College from 1994 to 1996. Chris also studied Paramedic Technology at Clayton State University, earning another AS degree, from 1992 to 1994. Their earlier education includes a Diploma in College Prep. from McIntosh High School, which they received between 1989 and 1991.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Chris Campbell has obtained the certification of Blue Card Incident Commander (IC) from the Blue Card institution in October 2022.

City of Fairburn

Municipality located in Fulton County about ten minutes southwest of Hartfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport and about twenty-five minutes from downtown Atlanta. The City of Fairburn has 150 employees with an annual General Fund budget of about $11 million. Downtown Fairburn is centered around the intersection of Highways 29 and 92. Recent annexation has provided exposure to the interchange of Interstate 85 and Highway 74. The City provides traditional police, fire, and public works services to 14,000 residents. Electric, water, sewer, storm water, and sanitation services are offered as well. Fairburn is a member of the Municipal Electric Authority of Georgia (MEAG) and the South Fultion County Water & Sewer Authority.
