Jay Parsons

Jay Parsons has a diverse work experience in the field of emergency response and healthcare. Jay is currently working as a Platoon Chief for the City of Fort Saskatchewan, where they are responsible for hiring, supervising employees, and creating policies and procedures. Jay is also involved in the Medical First Response program.

In addition to their role at the City of Fort Saskatchewan, Jay is also a Council Member for the Alberta College of Paramedics, starting from 2023.

Prior to their current positions, Jay worked as an Emergency Response Officer for Suncor from December 2019 to April 2022. Jay also served as a Fire-Medic 1st Class for the City of Red Deer from August 2009 to December 2019.

Before their time at the City of Red Deer, Jay worked as a FIREFIGHTER PARAMEDIC 1st Class for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo from June 2004 to August 2009.

Jay also has experience in education, as they worked as a Clinical Educator at Keyano College in January 2007.

Jay Parsons has an extensive education history in the field of emergency services management. In 2022, they pursued a Bachelor of Applied Science (BASc) degree in Emergency Services Management at Lakeland College Canada, which they completed in 2025.

During the same year, Jay also attended the Safety Codes Council, where they focused on becoming a Safety Codes Officer. Although the degree name is not specified, it can be assumed that they completed a program or certification related to this field.

In 2022, Jay attended the Justice Institute of British Columbia for a short period to study Organizational Leadership. Additionally, during that year, they completed a program in Industrial Firefighting with a focus on Crisis/Emergency/Disaster Management at Texas A&M University.

In April 2023, they obtained certifications as a Certified Fit Tester from Leavitt Safety and as a Safety Codes Officer from the Safety Codes Council. Additionally, they earned the Resilient Minds certification from the Canadian Mental Health Association in March 2023.

Other certifications include Basic Emergency Management from Lakeland College Canada in February 2023, Incident Command Systems 300 from NAIT (Northern Alberta Institute of Technology) in September 2022, and the Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Instructor certification from Heart & Stroke in December 2021. Furthermore, Jay acquired the Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS) Instructor certification from Heart & Stroke in September 2021 and became an R2MR Instructor through the Canadian Mental Health Association in August 2021.

Jay also obtained the Blue Card Command System certification from B Shifter in February 2021 and became a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer-Exercise and Fitness Specialist (CPT-EFS) through Canfitpro in the same year.

In terms of healthcare, Jay became a Registered Advanced Care Paramedic through the Alberta College of Paramedics in March 2002.
