Claire Carney

Vice Principal, Student Experience at City of Glasgow College

Claire Carney is currently the Vice Principal of Student Experience at City of Glasgow College. Before that, they were with the Higher Education Authority and Quality and Qualifications Ireland (QQI), where they served as a coordinating reviewer for QQI's cyclical quality review process. Claire has also held the position of Associate Vice-Principal Education at the University of the West of Scotland. In this role, they were responsible for the Education Enabling Plan, UWS Academy, Education Futures and Quality Enhancement. Claire has played a key role in ensuring that UWS is positioned as a sectoral leader in learning and teaching, and has established partnerships with external organizations to identify best practices.

Claire Carney has a Phd in primary school teaching of physical education from the University of Exeter, a PGCE in PE and science from Loughborough University, and a BSc in Sport Science from Liverpool John Moores University.
