Ian Tecson has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Ian currently works as the Deputy Director of Human Resources at the City of Hayward, a position they have held since January 2023. Ian also attended Las Positas College for General Education. In terms of additional certifications, Ian obtained the SHRM - Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP) designation from SHRM in May 2023. In January 2019, they obtained the CALPELRA Labor Relations Master Certification (CLRM) from the California Public Employers Labor Relations Association.

Hayward is a Charter City of 62.55 square miles and 145,839 residents governed under the Council-Manager form of government.
