Olivia Alcaire

Councilor, Ward 3 at City of Hillsboro

Councilor Alcaire was appointed to the Hillsboro City Council in 2017. She currently serves on the Transportation Committee and the boards of two Hillsboro affordable housing non-profit organizations - Bienestar and Willamette West Habitat for Humanity.

Through her work, Olivia learns about the needs of the most vulnerable citizens as well as low-income individuals/families and those experiencing homelessness. Olivia works for CREATE in Cornelius, a high school credit recovery program supporting youth and families in western Washington County. Olivia also assists students with college and career pathway development.

Olivia has been working in higher education since 2003. She teaches college success courses at Portland Community College, and has supported many students develop goals from high school to college to a career by helping students know their options.

Originally from San Francisco, Olivia graduated from El Camino High School and later moved to Oregon where she attended Portland State University and Oregon State University; she is currently working to complete her doctoral dissertation in Education Leadership at Portland State University. In her free time, Olivia enjoys spending time cooking, gardening, and exploring the city at farmer’s markets, festivals, restaurants, museums, and more. She is a family member, homeowner, caregiver, and a community educator.
