Bill Jirsa

Bill Jirsa has extensive work experience in the field of technology and project management. Bill is currently the Chief Technology Officer at the City of Homer, Alaska. Prior to this role, they worked at Polar Field Services, Inc. as a Project Manager and Loon Launch Site Manager. At Leidos, they held positions as a Project Engineer and McMurdo Station IT Manager, where they managed a team that operated and maintained the information infrastructure in Antarctica. Before that, they worked at GHG as a Datacenter Supervisor/Systems Administrator. Bill also has experience as a Manager and Lead Guide at Mica Guides, where they oversaw daily operations and implemented information systems strategy. Earlier in their career, they worked at Raytheon Technologies as a Sr PC Technician, managing server and workstation networks and providing support to researchers in Antarctica. Bill also worked at Sun Microsystems as a Project Manager.

Bill Jirsa has a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from the University of California, Davis, and a Master's degree in Linguistics from the University of Colorado Boulder. Bill also holds additional certifications including the Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute, the Alpine Ski Instructor, level 2 certification from PSIA - AASI Professional Ski Instructors of America - American Association of Snowboard Instructors, and the Wilderness First Responder certification from NOLS Wilderness Medicine.
