Derrick M. Murphy

Derrick M. Murphy, MEng, serves as the Assistant General Manager of Engineering & Maintenance at Birmingham Water Works Board since June 2019, bringing extensive experience in managing capital, operation, and maintenance projects for water facilities. In addition to this role, Derrick has been a Hoover City Council Member for Place 5 since November 2016 and previously held significant positions such as Senior Project Manager at Allworld Project Management and Project and Client Service Manager at Gresham, Smith and Partners. Derrick’s engineering career began at Birmingham Water Works Board, where duties included project management, budget establishment, and stakeholder communication, demonstrating a strong background in civil engineering and construction management with degrees from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
