Brian Acker has a diverse work experience spanning over the years. Brian started their career in 1995 at the Georgia Department of Labor, where they served as a Personnel Analysis Section Manager until 1998. From 1998 to 1999, they worked as a Human Resources Manager at Corporate Business Solutions. Brian then joined the Paulding County Board of Commissioners in 1999 as a Human Resources Director and held this position until May 2020. In 2015, Brian also took on two roles at SeaVentures Aquatic Center, serving as an SSI Advanced Open Water Instructor and a PADI Master Scuba Diver Trainer. Most recently, since September 2020, Brian has been working as a Human Resources Director at the City of Kennesaw.

Brian Acker holds a Master of Arts (MA) degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Appalachian State University. Brian completed this program from 1992 to 1994. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology & Economics from The University of the South, which they pursued from 1984 to 1988. In addition to their formal education, Brian has obtained several certifications throughout their career. In 2015, they became a Handicapped Scuba Association (HSA) Instructor and an Emergency First Response (EFR) Primary/Secondary Care Instructor. Brian also achieved the SHRM - SCP certification from SHRM and the Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification from the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) in 1999.
