James Brown

James Brown is an experienced risk management professional currently serving as the Risk Manager for the City of Lafayette, Colorado since March 2023. Previously, James held the same position for the City of Boulder from November 2016 to March 2023 and worked as a Loss Control Specialist and Loss Control Manager for the State of Utah from May 2010 to October 2016, focusing on enterprise risk management, workers' compensation, HR liability, and life safety. Early in the career, James contributed as an Equal Employment Opportunity Specialist and a Police Officer/Detective at the University of Utah from August 2005 to April 2010. Academically, James earned a Master of Public Administration from the University of Utah (2007-2009) and an Associate in Risk Management from AICPCU (2011-2012).
