Mandy Leatherwood Guss has extensive work experience in various communication and marketing roles. Mandy started their career in 2007 at Memorial Medical Center Las Cruces, where they progressed from a Marketing Specialist to a Marketing Director and later served as a Community Liaison. In 2015, they joined Ambercare as a Community Liaison. Mandy then joined the City of Las Cruces in 2016, initially as a Marketing and Special Events Coordinator, followed by an Interim Economic Development Coordinator role. Mandy subsequently became a Business Development Administrator and eventually assumed the position of Director of Communications in September 2020. In their current role, Mandy is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing communication and public relations activities to ensure the City's key messages are effectively conveyed to the public. Mandy also serves as the primary spokesperson for the City government and manages the public information staff and activities.
Mandy Leatherwood Guss completed a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from New Mexico State University from 2014 to 2017. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor's degree in Communication Studies, Journalism, and Mass Communications from the same university between 2003 and 2007.
