Ricardo Fajardo

Ricardo Fajardo's work experience begins in 2002 with a role as a Legal Advisor at the NGO Agency for the Development of the Amazon. In this position, they provided assistance to internally displaced people and helped relocate families and engage them in community projects.

Following this, from 2004 to 2007, Fajardo worked as a Legal and Policy Advisor at the National Business Association of Colombia. Ricardo played a role in achieving legislative milestones such as the banning of child labor, counterfeit medications, and tax reforms. Ricardo also assisted in negotiating the annual minimum wage and the initial discussions of free trade agreements with the US.

In 2004, Fajardo briefly worked as a Junior Solicitor and Summer Associate at Cardona Restrepo & Asociados.

In 2006, they lectured at Javeriana University, and the following year they started their role at the British and Colombian Chamber of Commerce as an Information Services Coordinator. In 2012, Fajardo joined World Animal Protection as the Legislative Affairs Manager. Ricardo advanced animal welfare objectives in legislation and policy globally, designed and managed the Animal Protection Index project, and built relationships with stakeholders.

Within World Animal Protection, Fajardo assumed roles such as Head of Policy and Advocacy (Interim) from 2014 to 2015, where they managed a team and projects like the Animal Protection Index and the Universal Declaration of Animal Welfare. From 2015 to 2019, they became the Head of Global External Affairs, responsible for developing and implementing the organization's external affairs strategy worldwide.

Most recently, in 2019, Fajardo became the Head of Business Intelligence and Insight at the City of London Corporation. In this role, they oversee the Business Intelligence Unit, advising on engagement approaches and focusing on government, businesses, and financial stakeholders.

Ricardo Fajardo completed a Master's degree in Research in Law at Birkbeck College (University of London) from 2007 to 2008. Ricardo also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Law from Javeriana University between 1998 and 2004. Additionally, they received training in Project Management through the PRINCE2 Foundations program at Knowledge Train Ltd. in 2012.
